Dr Price’s Total Health Tips
Tip #12: Liver

Why aren’t my vitamins working?

It could be that the vitamins that you are taking are not being assimilated by the body.  Most of the vitamins that you take need to be converted by the liver to a useable form.  For example, B vitamins – the metabolism, energy, mental alertness vitamin – must go to the liver and be transformed into a useable form. Beta-carotene gets converted into vitamin A in the liver; even some hormones have to be processed in the liver before they can be utilized.

If your liver is sluggish and inefficient most of your vitamins will pass through your system without being very effective. Dr. Price’s Total Cleanse can unburden the liver by eliminating toxins from the liver, colon and the lymphatic system.  This allows the liver backlog to catch up and clean out and the liver becomes more efficient.   This often increases the efficacy of your vits.

Time to take your next step to heath.

There is a vital action for handling your overall health, eating and fitness habits.  As you know you are the only one who can do anything about your health in the long term.  Obtaining and maintaining health is truly the best investment someone can make.

Liver Function and Health

The ability of the body to utilize any vitamin and nutrition intake is dependent solely on the liver function, regardless of the quality of what you eat or take in as a supplement.

The liver has 500 different metabolic functions.  Vitamins that you take must be must be converted by the liver into forms that are useable by the body.    (Niacin creates the flush before it is processed.)  It does not matter the quality, if the liver does not first process the food or vitamins, then the protein, carbohydrate (glucose - energy), vitamin or mineral is not able to be used by the body.

Some of the symptoms of a liver that is not functioning properly are: fatigue, PMS, insomnia, hypoglycemia, irritability, low metabolism, forgetfulness, high cholesterol, weight gain and inability to lose weight (especially weight around the middle or a protruding belly).

The misunderstanding that people have is that they utilize what they eat immediately; but actually the nutritional value is based on what they ate after it is converted by the liver. If the liver is not converting well, no matter how good the diet is, you may still be malnourished.

The Metabolism:

Metabolism is based on how well a body does its functions. Virtually every vitamin, mineral, oil, carbohydrate, fat and protein must be processed by the liver before it can be used by the rest of the body.  High metabolism means producing things rapidly and using lots of energy to do it.  A low metabolism means that the body is having difficulty performing the tasks rapidly and is not able to create as much energy.

The ability for the body to do its tasks is based on the liver being able to produce the necessary products.  Since the liver is responsible for changing the thyroid hormone (T4) into the usable thyroid hormone (T3) if it is not processing the thyroid hormone fast enough, then a person might have the symptoms of a hypo-thyroid (low thyroid) due to liver problems.  PMS can be caused by the liver failing to breakdown estrogen after it has done its job.

The liver has an enzyme system to break down toxins and substances and there's a limited amount of enzymes that it has to work with each day and if it's breaking down too many substances then it can't do it's other functions.

If too many vitamins are taken the liver is unable to convert them all.  Instead it breaks them down and throws some of them away. This causes the liver to overwork and causes mild stress on the liver.  This can cause fatigue, nausea, vomiting, insomnia and apparent vitamin deficiencies.

The Solution to these Problems:

Since the Industrial Revolution there have been approximately 10,000 chemicals introduced to the planet.  The liver can also be burdened with those new chemicals. The liver also could be stressed by a slow accumulation of incomplete processes.  This is often caused by chronic dehydration or a high intake of toxins (such as alcohol, nicotine, pesticides, medications, drugs, etc.)

The liver has a limited system to break down toxins; it uses special enzymes to accomplish this task.  If the liver is burdened, it runs out of enzymes and can no longer detoxify the environmental toxins.  This can cause a build up of toxins in other body tissues.

We now offer a full liver and colon cleanse.  The program and everything that you need to do this cleanse can be picked up at our office or mailed to you.
