Tip #6: Breakthrough

 

Weight Loss Scientific Breakthrough Discovered: 

I have been doing research for 27 years on the basic reasons people have difficulty losing weight and keeping fit.  There are two main reasons: individuals do not learn to deal properly with their appetite and they have trouble continuing regular exercise. 

Hunger and the desire for food is a physical, genetic demand.  Appetite is designed to urge you to eat more food than you really need, it is designed to get you gain more weight.  Man has come a long way since he had to chase his food or scrounge snow-covered hillsides for dinner.  Man has arranged to have food in such abundance; it is always the season of plenty. We are capable, for perhaps the first time, of putting on as much fat as we can and keeping it there, year after year.   

The sight or smell of food still triggers an eating reaction when you're hungry so you can put on weight and keep putting it on.  But without long, harsh winters, we no longer take it off.   
 

There is a physical, genetic reason for not exercising: 

Dieting alone causes you to lose muscle as well as fat, which sets you up for future fat gain, easier.  There is a physical, genetic reason that people have back-off on exercising.  Unnecessary (wasted) body motion has always been genetically, historically dangerous.  Wasting energy has been a bad thing.  Conserving energy has always been pro-survival.

 

Exercise regularly by hiring a trainer or twinning up with a friend, which can ensure that you actually show up for the exercise. (Just showing up is the hard part.)  It is the consistency of exercise that is beneficial, not just the occasional hard workout.  The important action is that you work out three or four times a week, or every day.   

A Simple Test: 

Test to see how strong your physical, genetic based reflex is:  While you are hungry, see if you can sit in front of your food for one minute without eating anything.  Then, halfway through, can you stop and put it away and stop eating?  If you are unable to do that easily, then you need to buy my book.
